The City of Carlisle is a small but growing municipality located just south of Dayton, Ohio. Formerly classified as a village, Carlisle recently transitioned to city status, prompting a renewed focus on civic identity and community engagement. City leadership partnered with Catapult Creative to craft a brand that reflected their momentum while honoring their unique history.

The Challenge
Carlisle’s most visible feature—railroad lines running directly through town—was seen by some as a limitation, not a strength. City leaders initially hoped to avoid this imagery entirely in the new logo. The challenge was to reshape the narrative and create a visual identity that was modern, meaningful, and embraced with pride by residents and city departments alike.
The Strategy

Through design exploration, we presented a fresh, contemporary take on the city’s railroad roots—turning what was once seen as a visual hurdle into a celebrated feature.
